I ran away
At the break of night
Was it because of anger?
Or simply because of fright?

The darkness consumed me
The forest became dense
No stars shone that night
The air was cold and intense

I ran and ran
Until my lungs screamed in pain
A brisk wind shot by
And then fell the rain

Drenched wet in the rain
And in my own tears
I continued along
Forgetting my fears

I went on for hours
Until fright set in
I did not know where I was
Or how long I had been

I tried to go back
But could not find the way
I began to panic
And regret going away

The world is such an ugly place
A mother locked her son inside a Cuban Hotel
And then she released an army of butterflies into the room

Thanks for the comment. That's good that you can relate, the poem is pretty much based on a time I attempted to run away. I'm glad you like it :)
